Which one is right for you and just what is Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace anyways?
To start, these are the top three social networking websites out there on the web today, with Facebook and Twitter quickly surpassing MySpace.
These free services focus on building online communities of people who share interests and/or activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others.
Many use these websites to reunite with old friends from childhood, highschool, college and so on. I myself have used Facebook to find one of my best friends that I had last seen when I was 9 years old.
Facebook is a popular, free-access social networking website where users can join networks organized by city, workplace, school, and region to connect and interact with other people.
MySpace is a social networking website with an interactive, user-submitted network of friends, personal profiles, blogs, groups, photos, music, and videos for teenagers and adults internationally.
Twitter is the free, minimalist social networking service that allows users to write, send and post to the Internet short messages via devices ranging from phones to laptops via SMS (text).
My good friend @davepeckens (follow him on twitter) said it best when he made this analogy…
Facebook is more like going to a large family wedding or class reunion, while Twitter is like going to a large “conference on life” and mingling with the crowd to network.
I would like to add to that saying MySpace is analogous to wandering through the hallways of a highschool and befriending everyone you see, with a boombox on your shoulder with your “theme music” playing.
That’s really how it is.
See MySpace is ridiculously annoying with all the videos and music that the users add to their page. Sometimes the videos and music play all at once and make me wan to punch my computer screen. MySpace creators allow you just enough tools to enable you to make a really annoying webpage that would make even the noobish webdesigner cringe.
-UPDATE- Witness the insanity of what would happen if facebook would allow the craptasticness of myspace

So which one is right for you?
Well if you are into internet marketing I would have to say Twitter is at the top.
If its old friends that you would like to seek out and friends that you know one a daily basis that you like to inform on what you are doing, Facebook is for you.
If you want an endless amount of spam messages, people you dont know asking to be your friend, having celebrities and porn stars as you friends, a hideous looking so called page, and if the amount of friends you have makes you feel like less of a loser, then MySpace is for you.
